Meet Keith, a dedicated storyteller and lifelong outdoor enthusiast whose roots in the wilderness run deep. With a passion for the great outdoors that stretches back nearly six decades, Keith brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and a profound respect for nature to Non-Typical Nation.

Born into a family that cherished outdoor adventures, Keith’s early years were spent fishing, hunting, and exploring the countryside with his parents. From chasing down ducks with his trusty single-shot shotgun at age 12 to unforgettable fishing trips in Northern Saskatchewan, Keith’s childhood was a training ground for a lifetime of outdoor adventures. His father’s trust and guidance instilled in him a deep sense of responsibility and respect for the natural world, lessons that still resonate with him today.

Keith’s love for the outdoors followed him through university, where he immersed himself in wilderness survival, mountain orienteering, and conservation education. His academic journey laid the foundation for a career dedicated to sharing his passion. For 33 years, Keith served as a teacher specializing in Environmental Sciences and Outdoor Education, shaping the lives of countless students by introducing them to archery, horseback riding, and the joys of camping.

Beyond teaching, Keith’s expertise extended to emergency medical response and wilderness search and rescue, roles that deepened his appreciation for the importance of preparation and safety in the outdoors. These experiences have fueled his commitment to educating others about the transformative power of nature and the critical role of conservation.

Keith’s adventures have taken him across the globe, from guiding Muskox hunts in the Northwest Territories to experiencing the wild beauty of South Africa. Along the way, he has worked with some of the biggest names in outdoor television and conservation, earning recognition for his efforts while remaining grounded by the belief that the journey is about who you become, not what you gain.

Today, Keith focuses on capturing the stories of the outdoors through writing and video production, bringing the voices of seasoned professionals and elders to life. His personal journey, which includes overcoming a serious injury and rediscovering his love for adventure, is a testament to resilience and the healing power of nature.
